| June 30, 2026City of Safford General Plan Update 2026 Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:City of Safford Announces Approval of the 2026–2036 General Plan Community Input Continues to Guide Long-Term Vision Safford, AZ — The City of Safford is pleased to announce that the City of Safford 2026–2036 General Plan has been officially approved by the Safford City Council following extensive public participation and community engagement.The General Plan will now move forward to the November 2026 ballot for voter ratification. This ten‑year plan serves as the City’s foundational guiding document for future decision‑making, land use planning, capital investments, and long‑range community goals. Approval of the General Plan does not increase taxes.The City extends its appreciation to all residents who participated in workshops, surveys, open houses, and other outreach efforts throughout the planning process. Community input played a central role in shaping the updated vision and priorities for Safford’s next decade.Planning and Community Development Director Jaime Embick underscored the importance of the document, stating: “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the community as we move into the implementation phase.
