Title of position: Nutrition Education Specialist
Position type: Full-time
Annual Salary: $36,395
Location: Graham County Health Department

Description of responsibilities:
- Prepares enrollment and eligibility forms and provides a variety of services to WIC clients, including food instrument issuance, height/weight and hemoglobin health screenings, referrals, breastfeeding and nutrition counseling.
- Provides dietary intake evaluation, including socio-economic and environmental factors affecting nutritional status.
- Prepares and maintains case management files.
- Performs data entry on office computers.
- Performs nutrition screening in accordance with clinic procedures.
- Performs routine laboratory and screening procedures.
- Conducts ongoing quality assurance in laboratory and other clinical procedures.
- Conducts follow-up on referrals received from community sources for needed nutritional care.
- May assist in program planning.
- May train other staff in program procedures.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain competencies and to update current nutrition knowledge.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required experience: Knowledge of the principles and practices of human nutrition and its relationship to health. Ability to manage and handle several projects at one time.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or G.E.D., preferably supplemented with prior experience as a community nutrition worker or a related position in the health care field, which includes general clerical experience. Preference will also be given to applicants who are bilingual in English and Spanish; possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license, with a history of safe driving and the ability to maintain a safe driving record.
