Gila Watershed Partnership Invites Public to First Friday Volunteer Social- Planting for Restoration

The Gila Watershed Partnership invites all members of the public to attend our next

First Friday Volunteer Event and Social, October 3. The activity is called Planting for

Restoration. Participants can learn about the native plants along our beloved Gila River, and

will help our crew make root cages and plant native plants at one of our riverside sites. Meet

at the Gila Native Plants Nursery at Discovery Park Campus of EAC at 7 am for a ride out to

the site, with a return time of 11 am. A light breakfast will be provided.

If you’re already a GWP volunteer, you’re interested in volunteering, or you just want

to see what’s going on at the Gila Watershed Partnership, RSVP to info@gwpaz.org. Seats in

the van are limited. Participants may also caravan in their own vehicles. Four wheel drive is

recommended.

First Friday Volunteer Socials have been a popular way to give to our organization,

and learn more about what we do. This summer, volunteers went to the field to fling

mudballs during the monsoon, a fun and easy way to get seed into our planting areas. The

needs are many, and the volunteers are few – why don’t you add your name to the list? Join

us on the first Friday of most months to learn and do at Gila Watershed Partnership.
